2010 TEDx Conference in La Jolla, CA

'The Greater Meaning of Water' presented at TEDx


'The Greater Meaning of Water', an independent film exploring the spiritual dimension of the sport of breath-hold freediving, was presented at the 2010 TEDx Conference in La Jolla, CA.

The film's Featurette (viewable at http://www.gmwmovie.com) was screened during the closing talks on the innovative roof-top setup at the La Jolla Palace, followed by a discussion of the film.

TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design.

Wins 'Audience Choice' Award and 'Best Cinematography' for feature film at the 2010 Los Angeles All Sport International Film Festival


‘The Greater Meaning of Water’ Film Premiere was part of the 2010 Los Angeles All Sports Film Festival, where it won ‘Best Cinematography’ for feature film, and was voted ‘Audience Choice’ award for feature film.

IN real estate, a picture can be worth more than a thousand words. Much, much more. When selling properties online, agents and Web designers say that the pictures buyers see of houses and apartments for sale are often the first — and sometimes the only — chance for a seller to make a good impression. Less-than-flattering pictures can turn buyers off and lead to lonely open houses.

Vicaso expands in US, EU & AU

I’ve done posts in the past on Vicaso.  The last one, in March of this year was one of the most popular posts on the blog this year. It’s easy to understand why. Vicaso images are some of the best examples of interior HDR images that I’ve seen. To my eye, they have the right amount of brightness, saturation, clarity and sharpness but none of the artifacts usually associated with HDR. They are lovely images!

Web 3.0

Google, with the cooperation of prestigious libraries, has been digitizing books to make them findable. The practice excites futurists but angers some publishers. Of necessity, digitization creates virtual copies. The publishers claim that such duplication violates copyright, even if the book’s content is hidden from the public. The New York Public Library, one of Google’s partners in the project, recently hosted a public debate on the subject.
